Linux: Install MADA Booth

Download the .tar.gz package for Linux x64 and run the installation script. Compatible with CentOS Stream, Rocky, AlmaLinux, Fedora, Debian and Ubuntu. A fresh installation takes about ten minutes.

Install Capture

  1. Prepare the machineMinimal installation, working network connection, and an account with sudo privileges.
  2. Download the packageDownload MADABooth2026.8.1.tar.gz and extract it:
    tar -xzf MADABooth2026.8.1.tar.gz
    sudo ./MADABooth/install.sh --url https://app.madabooth.nl/booth
  3. Answer the questionsThe installation script asks for the booth address and screen orientation, then installs the kiosk, services, and udev rules.
  4. Restartsudo reboot - the terminal automatically launches the booth in full-screen mode without a mouse pointer.
  5. Connect the boothThe screen displays a pairing code. Enter it under Booths in the admin panel, or scan the QR code.

What the installation script configures

  • MADA Booth kiosk in full-screen mode, with camera access enabled by default
  • Autostart via mada-booth.service with a dedicated user and password login disabled
  • Watchdog that checks every 30 seconds and restarts the kiosk or machine if necessary
  • Service running on 127.0.0.1:9120 for shutdown and restart commands from the service menu
  • Automatic update every 12 hours, with checksum verification and rollback if issues occur
  • Sleep mode, screen saver and graphical login disabled

Manage on the device

Shut down and restart

Open the hidden service menu on the photo booth by tapping the top-left corner four times or Ctrl+Alt+S, enter the service code and select Restart or Shut Down under Terminal. Both start a five-second countdown that you can cancel.

Troubleshooting
