Raspberry Pi: Install MADA Booth

Download the correct .tar.gz package for your Pi. Works on Raspberry Pi OS 32-bit and 64-bit. For a smooth preview, we recommend a Pi 4 or 5 with a USB webcam that supports 1080p.

Install Capture

  1. Install Raspberry Pi OSThe Lite version is sufficient, no desktop environment is required.
  2. Download the packageDownload the correct .tar.gz file for your architecture and extract it: 
    tar -xzf MADABooth2026.8.1-arm64.tar.gz
sudo ./MADABooth/install.sh --url https://app.madabooth.nl/booth
  3. RestartThe Pi launches the photo booth in full-screen mode, without borders or a mouse pointer.
  4. PairingEnter the pairing code in the dashboard under Booths, or scan the QR code.

What else the Pi installation script does

  • Installs MADA Booth with the correct Xorg video drivers for the Pi
  • Enables console autologin, without a desktop environment
  • Enables the hardware watchdog, so a frozen device restarts automatically
  • Sets GPU memory to 64 MB and disables overscan for edge-to-edge display
  • Adds stability flags for the Pi

Tips

  • Use a reliable power supply: undervoltage can cause random restarts
  • Connect the Pi to a wired network if possible. Wi-Fi works too, but is more sensitive to interference
  • A high-quality SD card helps prevent file corruption during power outages
  • Printing is available via CUPS. For large photo printers, a Windows or Linux PC is more stable
